Last Saturday was one of those spring days that goes back-and-forth between a bit of liquid sunshine and the golden kind. This month, Edmonds Sketchers met at the center of Edmonds, where 5th and Main intersect with a frothy fountain.
Everybody was out for a walk, a bit of breakfast, or some fresh flowers at the Saturday market.
Our sketching group blended in to the scene even while capturing it in our sketch books. Several artists have shown up for each event, while new people arrive each time to see what’s up.
It seems that coming out to draw in a group, even if it is an unofficial association at best, feeds our artistic souls. It felt really good to be surrounded by people celebrating spring, a beautiful place to regain our sense of community, and most of all, a feeling of hope and renewal in the fresh air.
Our next sketching event will be at Edmonds City Park, Saturday, June 17, noon to 1:30. More information and photos of our sketches can be found at www.ArtspotEdmonds.com. All are welcome. Free. No registration required.
Step by Step of my Sketch using Faber Castell Big Brush Pen in Warm Grey, Zebra PM-701 and black Kuratake permanent illustration pen. OMG I love these pens. Love... Pen nerd speaking.
I got all line work done on site, and added color later at my studio. I decided to try out the new Faber Castell Watercolor Markers we recently got in at ARTspot. The idea is to lay down color then “melt” them by applying water with brush.
Wish I would have stopped at second to last stage, because the colors muted down as I added more pigment and water. Cie la vie - that is why we continue to draw and gain more experience. Especially when trying new art supplies!
