Students will meet at ARTspot for a brief indoor overview before heading out on foot to explore Downtown Edmonds through sketching.

In this workshop we will cover techniques for creating expressive drawings on location using pen and ink and watercolor.

   • Expert tips for achieving a balance of accuracy, spontaneity and speed.

   • Practical advice for working in the field, choosing subjects, capturing people in motion and more.

   • Creative solutions for improving essential skills like proportion, perspective and atmosphere

Participants can learn how strong or detailed to make linework; when to use pencil or ink; how much color to use, and where; how to successfully compose an image and use perspective to bring it to life; how to use contrast; and how to incorporate detail.

With these tips to hone your technique you will be on your way to becoming a comfortable urban sketch artist.

Workshop starts at ARTspot at 9:00 am. Michele will give a short overview before your group heads out to sketch! Workshop outdoor location will be within walking distance of ARTspot. Exact location TBD. Michele will select where we draw based on Saturday’s weather, etc.

Students receive a 10% discount on ARTspot purchases from the day of registration to workshop end of day.

Excludes clearance items and other workshops. Cannot be combined with other discounts.
