Discovering Hidden Gems All Around Us

ARTspot Edmonds Sketchers found artists gathering at the Kruckeberg Garden in Shoreline. What a gem, literally it was glowing like an emerald.
Kruckeberg, a four-acre public garden contains a unique blend of Pacific Northwest native plants and unusual exotics in a verdant wooded setting. There are more than 2,000 species there, which include native and exotic conifers, hardwoods, rhododendrons, magnolias, ferns and groundcovers. Several trees are the largest or most rare in the state. Birdwatchers have identified more than 40 bird species while visiting the Garden.
My friend Julie walks through Yost Park most days and discovers something to inspire her each time. I enjoy walking to work along 4th Avenue in Edmonds. The rockery gardens, unique houses and even the signs and do-dads in people's yards catch my eye. Hidden gems are all around us.
The Sketchers group is a wonderful addition to my art life and continues to develop my eye and desire to more skillfully capture images in my sketchbook.
