Series of 3 Wednesdays: February 4, 11, & 18, 2026

6pm - 8pm

Over the course of three sessions, students will be introduced to various watercolor techniques such as running washes, mixing colors and design fundamentals. Students will practice a series of exercises, culminating in still life painting and landscape studies. Perfect for beginners.

Instructor Bio: Roger Whitlock

I've been painting in watercolor for nearly 40 years and have taught watercolor classes and workshops, here and in Hawai'i, where I lived before returning to the NW nine years ago. I am a Signature Member of both the Hawai'i and the Northwest Watercolor Societies.

You can purchase your quality art supplies at ARTspot! Registered students receive a 10% discount on all their art supplies from the time of paid registration until the last day of class. All items on this list are carried by ARTspot.

  • 2 watercolor brushes--a good round (#10) and a good flat (1"), NO small brushes;

  • 2 sheets (for the first class) of good WC paper 140lb-cold press;

  • 7 tubes of artist-grade watercolor paint: 2 yellows, one warm, one cool, such as New Gampoge & Hansa Yellow Light; 2 reds (such as Cad-red medium & Permanent Alizarin Crimson); 2 blues (Ultramarine and Cerulean; Viridian (only the M.Graham brand).

  • A palette with a mixing area (could be a white china dinner plate)

  • 2-B drawing pencil and kneaded eraser
