Stretched canvas - two weights. two depths.
Heavy Cotton
Constructed with heavy-duty, high-quality materials, our Heavy Cotton Stretched Canvas is great for heavy paint and mixed media applications, palette knife work and pieces that are meant to last. It is suitable for use with all acrylic paints, oil paints and other wet or dry media. The unbleached 9 oz. cotton duck is primed with acid-free acrylic titanium gesso to a finished weight of 13 oz. and stretched around kiln-dried solid pine stretcher bars. Back-stapled with folded, uncut corners. Sizes with a dimension of 24" or longer are braced for additional support.
Available in two profile depths: Studio canvases have a 3/4" deep profile and Gallery canvases have a 1-1/2" deep profile, providing additional strength and support, especially for larger sizes.
Classic cotton
An all-purpose canvas, Classic Cotton Stretched Canvas is great for traditional painting techniques as well as mixed media, aerosol art, home decor and craft project and is suitable for use with all acrylic paints, oil paints and other wet or dry media. The unbleached 5 oz. cotton duck is primed with acid-free acrylic titanium gesso to a finished weight of 10 oz. and stretched around and back-stapled to kiln-dried solid pine stretcher bars. Sizes with a dimension of 24" or longer are braced for additional support. Available in three profile depths: Studio Canvases have a 3/4" deep profile, Gallery canvases have a 1-3/8" deep profile. Gallery profiles provide additional strength and support, especially for larger sizes.
birch Wood panels
More durable than canvas, wood panels resist flexing or warping, making them great for painting, especially thick, heavy applications and palette knife work, as well as encaustic, and mixed media. It's also a cool trick to flip them over and use and use as a shadow box, frame or tray.
The 4mm hand-sanded birch wood surface is smooth for detailed work and mounting. The sturdy pine cradle adds support and allows for hanging without a frame. If you are price shopping, these are equivalent to the premium level at other places that offer both the economy and the premium. We don't carry the economy as they tend to split, shear off or become unglued. We don't want you to become unglued so we don't carry those!

MDF Panels
Designed for painting, mounting, encaustic and mixed media, our 5mm (3/16") MDF boards provide a smooth, strong and warp-resistant surface. They are great for creating customized panels, and drawing or watercolor boards. We choose the formaldehyde free artist's quality, so you can use with confidence, even for hot processes like encaustics!
Bonus: Our panels feature two dovetail slots for easy hanging of artwork.

Canvas Panels
Our canvas panels are an economical and easily portable alternative to stretched canvas. They are great for lighter paint applications, quick studies, practice and class projects. The unbleached 3 oz. cotton is primed with acid-free acrylic titanium gesso to a finished weight of 8 oz. and wrapped around an acid-free recycled paper board core. Suitable for use with all acrylic paints, oil paints and other wet or dry media.

Fredrix Cotton Archival Canvas Board
Medium texture cotton duck or 100% Belgian linen mounted on an acid free hardboard core that will not warp or break down. Mounted with 100% acid free adhesive and grounded with a proprietary, two coat, acid free formula of acrylic-titanium gesso primer, these professional grade canvas boards are truly archival.
Suitable for oil or acrylic painting. Professional artists will often add another coat of gesso and then lightly sand for a premium surface for portraiture.
