LOCATION:  This class will be held at the Cole Gallery Studio - 107 5th Ave S. Just around the corner from ARTspot.

DESCRIPTION: So many artists are intrigued by the world of acrylics, but what makes them so versatile and wonderful are the gels and pastes you mix with the pigments to change the consistency and build texture. In this class, we each have six canvases or canvas panels and will learn multiple ways to "build" a painting in acrylics with the focus on gaining an understanding of the different kids of gels available to you. Many effects can be achieved with combinations of these products.
I demo every step of the way, so you can see how to handle the both acrylics and the tools. Our goal is for you to spend the day experimenting so you can develop preferences on how YOU like to work!

It is a great way to get started in acrylics even if you have never painted before, or for those already using acrylics but would like some new to add more techniques to your "tool box." We will take a break on the first day and go over to ARTspot for a fun and informative shopping trip. This is a super upbeat, fast paced and supportive workshop experience.
I repeat all my classes periodically in case these offerings don't fit your schedule.

SUPPLY LIST:  You can purchase all your quality art supplies at ARTspot. Registered students receive a 10% discount on all their art supplies during the course. All items on this list are available at ARTspot.

I ENCOURAGE experimentation, so a variety of supplies is welcome. I strongly encourage you to use artist quality paints - I use Golden paints as the pigments are pure and bright.

My Paint Palette Colors: (Golden Acrylic Tube colors)
You can bring in Acrylic paints you already have, but I highly recommend professional artists paints. Avoid “cheap” student grade paints! If you are just getting started, my best recommendation is:  Golden Color Theory Set of 8 colors. A perfect set to start with. Required for Color Theory, if you are thinking you might like to take this in the future. (We also have sets in fluid and mini tubes.)
